Overview & Objectives

The School of Pastoral Ministry exists to equip Lay members and In-service staff of the Diocese with pastoral skills, perspectives and biblical underpinnings, in areas that are not adequately covered by the parishes nor the seminaries.

CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION (CPE)

Clinical Pastoral Education is a well-established professional formational of heart, head and hands for theological students and pastors already serving in ministry. Interns sharpen their pastoral identity and competency by acquiring essential insights and skills, practicing clinical pastoral care in the field, and engaging in theological reflection. Interns receive individual and group supervision, as they apply their knowledge and skills in both parish and healthcare institutional settings. Skills developed in CPE include pastoral listening and influencing, need assessment, planning of care, self-awareness and self-care. The spiritual and pastoral issues discussed include sickness, death, dying, bereavement, mental health, suicide prevention, interpersonal conflict, interfaith relations, pastoral ethics, etc.

The Clinical Pastoral Education Programme is offered by the Diocese of Singapore (the Anglican Church) in partnership with Trinity Theological College, St Andrew’s Mission Hospital and Singapore Anglican Community Services.

The publicity and application form for the 2023/2024 intake will be available from mid-March 2023.
