Overview & Objectives
Wherever there are people who wish to move together towards an agreed goal or outcome, there automatically arises the need for leadership and management. This is true both outside and within the Church.
The School of Leadership aims to equip Lay members for leadership challenges in the Church and marketplace contexts. These challenges could be in areas like conflict management, direction-setting, change-management, communication etc.
SOL also seeks to serve In-Service staff of the Diocese by equipping them with the leadership and management skills, perspectives and biblical underpinnings for their roles, whether they be at ministry, congregation, parish, area deanery or Diocesan levels. The training approaches will vary according to the particular course, and wherever needed, will focus on excellence in practice, not just mastery of theory.
For a start in 2022, Ordination training, Continuing Ministerial Education (CME) for the newly ordained, and Vicars Training (for soon-to-be or newly appointed Vicars) will be conducted under the auspices of the School of Leadership. Other courses will be added to the suite of training options in the coming years.
