Deaconess June Tan became one of the first two local deaconesses in the Diocese of Singapore in Nov 1990. Prior to this, deaconesses were expatriates. She was in the pioneer batch to receive the Diploma of Ministry from the Dioceses of Sabah and Singapore in Dec 1990.
Upon graduation from the then University of Singapore, she joined The Straits Times as a journalist in June 1977. She then became a Parish Worker in the Diocese in Dec 1986. Presently Ds June pastors the 7.30am and 4.30pm Services of St Andrew’s Cathedral and also serves in the cells ministry. She became the first female Associate Warden of St Peter’s Hall in Sept 2021, and assists mainly with pastoral care of the female students in St Peter’s Hall.
